Month old bees collect Pine tree sap to block holes in the beehives; in the beehive world this is called propolis. You’ve probably seen propolis in very expensive, high end skin care products. It’s a resin and therefore is not soluble. It’s very hard, just like glue and very black. If you’ve got some bits in your beeswax balm, you’re very lucky as it’s full of antimicrobial properties – just like honey.
If you have accidently dropped your jar and the lid has been damaged, just send us an email and we will pop another one in the post to you free of charge.
The glass is recyclable however, if you wish to upcycle the jar for your own personal use, wash the lid and the jar with warm soapy water and then leave the jar to soak in water overnight to make the label easier to remove. Make sure the lid and jar are completely dry before closing the jar of course.
All our products are made in small batches and due to seasonal changes in temperature, humidity etc, the consistency may vary slightly from batch to batch. The ingredients and production method for our creams never vary. If the balm is slightly more solid than usual, just take a small amount in the palm of your hand and rub until the balm has melted.
